Emil Bizga solo on Giant Steps transcription

 Giant Steps; "the most feared song in jazz"(sic) as Vox declared, notoriously difficult, as played by the Romanian trumpet player Emil Bizga on one of his recordings with Marius Preda on cimbalom.

Emil Bizga is one of the best Romanian jazz trumpeters, if not the best. More about him later on. I will invite him for an interview on my YouTube channel. For now here's a transcription of his solo.

As it goes pretty fast, and it's difficult maybe to play along with the recording, even if you adjust the playback speed, here's a PDF for B♭ instruments (trumpet, clarinet, tenor sax...etc).

Jazz Articulation or Jazz Phrasing

Some people were telling me about classical articulation and jazz articulation, and that left me a bit... confused. 

Is it such a thing like "classical articulation" which is exclusively classical? 🤷

Is it such a thing like "jazz articulation" which is exclusively jazz? 🤷

In this video I explore these ideas and come up with some exercises, hopefully helpful.

Pie Jesu - Medium Trumpet Duo

 A very well known composition of  Andrew Lloyd Webber is "Pie Jesu".
"Pie Iesu" is a text from the final couplet of the hymn "Dies irae", and is often included in musical settings of the Requiem Mass as a motet. The phrase means "pious Jesus" in the vocative. (thank you Wikipedia)

Huggy Wuggy Melody-Easy Trumpet Version

 So... Huggy Wuggy is definitely something kids should NOT know about, but somehow they do...
Few days ago, some of my pupils asked me if I could teach them the Huggy Wuggy song, and after I lectured them about what to watch and not to watch, internet dangers ...etc ...etc, I wrote by hand the melody, eared out the chords and we played the song... 
I just can't say no to them...

Zi-i Bade, Cu Fluiera - Romanian Folclore Easy Trumpet Transcription

 An easy arrangement for trumpet and piano accompaniment of a Romanian traditional folk song.

The title is hard to translate. "Bade" is a polite form for addressing men, and "fluiera" is an archaic form of "fluier", meaning whistle or shepherd flute.

The arrangement is not mine, I found it in a very old book, with paper getting yellow already. I would opt for a more harmonically complex arrangement, and a closer to Romanian folk music one. Maybe one day I'll try my hand on it.
